Thanks to strong export performance, this year's harvest season has seen durian prices remain high. Specifically, at the beginning of the season, durian could sell for 120,000 VND/kg. Even at the peak of the season, prices remained between 45,000-55,000 VND/kg, significantly higher than the average in recent years. With these high prices, durian farmers have achieved substantial profits this harvest season. A hectare of productive durian can yield profits in the billions of VND.
In recent years, the area dedicated to durian cultivation in Dong Nai has increased significantly. Currently, the province has 12,654 hectares of durian, focusing on two main varieties: Dona and Ri6. The agricultural sector is also intensifying efforts to establish planting area codes that meet export standards to the Chinese market. To date, the province has been granted 41 export planting area codes for durian to China, covering an area of 1,959 hectares, with a production of 48,975 tons. Additionally, the province has 34 growing areas that have submitted applications awaiting approval for area codes, covering 977 hectares.
