(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On July 18, a workshop on improving the investment and business environment towards a green and sustainable economy was held in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. This conference aimed to share and exchange experiences and solutions for improving the investment and business environment among provinces and cities in the region.
Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Natural Resources and Environment speaking at the conference
Improving the environment is "key" to increasing investment attraction
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vo Tan Thanh, Vice Chairman of VCCI, stated that improving the investment and business environment is not only crucial for attracting investment and promoting economic growth but also the foundation for building a sustainable and prosperous economy. A favorable investment and business environment creates conditions for businesses to develop, innovate, and compete healthily. This not only benefits businesses but also enhances the quality of life for residents, creates job opportunities, and fosters community development.
According to Mr. Thành, in the context of globalization and international economic integration, improving the investment and business environment will help provinces and cities in the Southeast region enhance their competitiveness and attract investment resources from both domestic and foreign sources. To support provincial and municipal governments in promoting regional linkages, exchanging green transition initiatives and successful models, and creating a business environment oriented towards sustainable development, VCCI coordinated with the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province to organize this conference.
At the workshop, speakers, experts, and managers discussed two main topics: Provincial Green Index and enhancing environmental governance quality towards sustainable development in the Southeast region; and best practices in improving the business environment towards a green and sustainable economy.

Dong Nai and solutions to achieve and maintain the Top 3 Provincial Green Index
Currently, Dong Nai has over 53,000 operating businesses, including more than 1,600 foreign enterprises. Recently, the province has implemented various solutions to improve the investment and business environment towards sustainable development. Specifically, the province has selectively attracted investments, implemented the project to convert Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park into an urban-commercial-service area, and piloted the conversion of Amata Industrial Park into a globally-oriented eco-industrial park.
Additionally, the Provincial People's Committee has cooperated with Kobe City (Japan) to study the green-smart industrial park model in the province at Long Duc Industrial Park. Recently, the Provincial People's Committee issued a project to reduce carbon emissions in the province by 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Mr. Tran Trong Toan, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, shared that in 2023, the province was ranked third nationwide for the Provincial Green Index (PGI). To maintain this ranking, the province will focus on solutions to improve and enhance the investment and business environment, such as reducing environmental pollution, monitoring compliance with environmental standards, promoting green practices, and developing plans to prevent and respond to waste.
In the process of implementing these solutions, the province faced several challenges. For instance, there are six industries and subjects required to inventory greenhouse gas emissions, but there are currently no guidelines, standards, or trained experts to perform the inventory. Therefore, the province recommends that VCCI consolidate these difficulties and propose to competent authorities to support localities.
