Summer 2013 Red Blood-drops Campaign

For over the past 10 years calling for the community to donate blood, since 2003 the organizers received 301 blood units and in 2012 the number of blood units received was 23,603; increasing to the rate of 102% compared to target set forth in 2012 which was 23.000 units of blood. These positive results have helped enable hospitals to improve the effectiveness of emergency, patient treatment, bringing joy and happiness to patients and their families. Still, the source of donated blood does not meet the needs of emergency and treatment in the province in summer. 

To meet the said demand on the source of donated blood which is seriously insufficient this summer, the provincial blood donation Standing Steering Committee from 08 May to 02 Sep. 2013. 

The provincial blood donation Standing Steering Committee (provincial Red Cross) launched the summer 2013 "red blood-drops" campaign in the province with following content: sectors and all levels of the province have to coordinate themselves to promote their movements; positively take part in the campaign; strive to call for over 10,000 donors, including 7,500 blood donors in summer of 2013 (accounting for over 30% of the target blood amount in 2013). 

The plan also states that the provincial blood donation Standing Steering Committee has to coordinate with departments, levels and Dong Nai Radio - Television, and media unit of the province in order to enhance oral communication and propagation on mass media so that all classes of people can comprehend the purpose and significance of summer 2013"red blood- drops" campaign, which will encourage them to actively register and donate their blood; and help the Committee to be well ready for receiving of donated blood on the days of "The blood red-drops" this summer 2013. 

At the same time, the plan also requires members of the provincial blood donation Standing Steering Committee to enhance their functions and duties as well, which are to encourage officials and members of the Youth Union to actively register and participate in blood donation in summer 2013. The blood donation Steering Committees in districts, communes and cities, the Dong Nai Rubber Corporation and leaders of agencies, units, districts, communes, cities need to appeal Party members, officers, employees, youth union members, members of unions in their units and the all classes of people to actively take part in the campaign; pay more attention to developing the sources of voluntary blood donors: Communication, registration receipt, selecting, organizing activities for voluntary blood donation force. 

The Department of Health should coordinate with the provincial blood donation Standing Steering Committee to conduct the campaign in the province, direct the affiliated hospitals to arrange sufficient number of doctors, technicians and equipment to help receive voluntarily donated blood amount; and support Cho Ray Blood Transfusion Service Center to deliver, manage and use the donated blood effectively.
