Summation of the sixth movement of Dongnai peasants’ emulation in good production and business (2003-2007): 118 good peasants are honoured

In the morning of September 12, at the Provincial Square, the Provincial Peasant Society in combination with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Steering Committee of the movement of united people building an educated life in the province held the closing meeting of the sixth movement of Dongnai peasants’ emulation in good production and business (2003-2007). At the meeting, there were Mr. Pham Quang Ton – Vice Chairman of the Central Peasant Society, Mr. Bui Ngoc Thanh – Member of the Standing Committee, Head of Provincial Public Relations Board, Mr. Ao Van Thinh - Vice President of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Cong Ngon – President of the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front and 118 representatives of 61,245 peasant households doing well in business and production all over the province.

Representatives at the meeting toured around peasants’ display stands

Among 118 representative peasants doing well in production and business, there are 13 women, 3 people with education level of first grade, 62 people of second grade, 53 third grade. The number of representatives who are peasants doing well in production and business as well as the Society’s staff is 23. In terms of income, 20 households gain an income rate of under VND 100 million per year; 82 households VND 100-300 million per year. In particular, among these 118 households, there are 4 poor households bettering themselves.

Over the past 5 years, the movement of peasants’ emulation in good production and business has contributed to the successful realization of socio-economic targets, the construction of new advanced rural areas, the transfer of cultivated crops and domestic animals’ structure in a direction of productivity, quality and effectiveness and the mechanization of agriculture and rural areas. The peasant households doing well in production and business have contributed more than VND 15 billion, 55,670 working days, 138,000 saplings, 30,517 breeding animals, 90.857 kilograms of food and tens of tons of fertilizers of all kinds to help 12,827 peasant households and so on.

Stating at the meeting, Mr. Ao Van Thinh - Vice President of the Provincial People’s Committee judged that the movement of peasants’ emulation in good production and business hasn’t been broad hasn’t multiplied progressive typical examples in agricultural field and hasn’t overcome the old practice of monoculture. Therefore, he suggested that the Peasant Society of all levels delve into and identify the need of production and life of the Society’s members and peasants, enhance the co-ordination with the State, branches, businesses to invest on capital support, science and technology, and seeds of high productivity and quality and so on.

At the meeting, the certificates of merit from the Vietnamese Central Peasant Society were awarded to 6 typical representatives who had just attended the Second meeting of peasants good at production in Hanoi; the certificates of merit from the provincial People’s Committee were awarded to 112 representatives with excellent achievements in the movement of peasants’ emulation in good production and business for 5 consecutive years (2003-2007).
