The Anti-corruption law No 55/2005/QH11 and the thrift practice law No 48/2005/QH11 were passed by the 9th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the 8th session on November 29th 2005 and went into effect on June 1st 2006. The Anti-corruption law consists of 8 chapters and 92 clauses and the thrift practice law comprises 11 chapters and 86 clauses. These laws play a significant role, showing the absolute determination of the Party and the State to fight against corruption and wastefulness in the new situation; fulfilling responsibilities of all branches, agencies at all levels, state officials and people to manage and use properties as well as the state budget effectively; and at the same time helping all citizens to grasp thoroughly the anti-corruption law and policy on thrift and anti-wastefulness.
