The first Families’ Sports Competition in Dong Nai Province: 21 families from 11 units entered the competition.

The first Families’ Sport Competition was held by the Provincial Committee for Population, Family and Children together with the Department of Sports and Physical Training at the sporting event hall in Dong Nai Province on June 10th 2006. 21 families representing 11 districts and cities entered the competition.

The competition was held to respond to the mass movement of playing sports and doing physical training, especially commemorate 5 year Vietnamese’s Families day (June 28th 2001 – June 28th 206) and on the occasion of “the Month Campaign for Children”. The competition took place in one day with 3 rounds: in the morning, the families tried for “giving strength” and badminton and in the evening for “family knowledge”. The competition came on in an enthusiastic atmosphere with solidarity and the spirit of learning from each other. The results were that: the comprehensive first prize was awarded to the family whose members are Mr. Nguyen Trong Chinh, Mrs. Vo Thi Bach Yen and Nguyen Thi Van from Thong Nhat district; the comprehensive second prize was given to the family whose members are Mr. Huynh Tan Tien, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hanh and Huynh Tan Vinh from Dinh Quan district. It is known that the family winning the first prize will enter the National Families’ Sports Competition in the coming time.

According to plan, The First Families’ Sports Competition will become a traditional tournament and will be organized every two years in the even years. The purpose is to honor cultural families and sporting families, simultaneously foster knowledge of family, skills in life and encourage everyone to do physical exercices and play sports for healthy lifestyles.
