including libraries. The program “Digital transformation of the library sector
to 2025, with a vision to 2030" approved by the Prime Minister is an

Gradually modernize the library system
In recent years, the development of digital libraries has received attention from all sectors and levels and is being invested properly in modern technological equipment. As a result, it has increasingly met the needs of readers in the 4.0 era. Provincial Library Director Nguyen Ngoc Thanh said that in recent times, the library has conducted many activities digital platforms in parallel with traditional activities, bringing many exciting utilities for readers. Since 2021, to ensure readers have a good experience and follow epidemic prevention and control regulations, the library has used the website to aid readers in borrowing books, renewing books borrowing time, and giving advices to readers; organize many online book exhibitions, introduce new books, thematic catalogs via website and the Facebook page...
In fact, the library's digital platform was launched back in 2005 when the provincial and district public library system in Dong Nai invested in building an electronic library system, including server located at the Provincial Library, connected to district libraries to serve the professional tasks in the library.
In 2013, the Dong Nai Public Library system continued to be upgraded and completed the cloud-based online library system and was put into use. The server room was operating the entire Provincial Library system and District Libraries using Lac Viet Vebrary 4.0 software including 8 subsystems: Cataloging, system administration, circulation, supplementation, inter-library borrowing, management of newspapers, magazines, inventory, online public access catalog.
Currently, the Provincial Library's digital resources are 16,597 (including 4,597 documents, magazines, digitized maps and 12,000 ebooks), district and city libraries own more than 6,325 digitized documents of all kinds. Over the past years, the library has gradually deployed services based on digital platforms, such as online bibliographic searches, online reading, reading books using QR codes, watching book introduction videos and specialized image collections..., all of which help readers quickly have access to library resources.
Focusing on implementing digital transformation
According to Provincial Library Director Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, the implementation of the digital transformation program is an opportunity for the library sector to accelerate modernization, resources sharing, and create a strong library community. Currently, the Provincial Library has 454,933 copies of books, 430 newspapers and magazines outlets (253,952 papers/book) and more than 2 thousand discs of all kinds. Information, data, activities and hundreds of books, newspapers and magazines are introduced on the library's Website and fan page.
Folders, digital documents, and book introduction videos are embedded with QR codes so readers can access books easily and quickly.
“The Provincial Library's website provides the Dspace digital library, information on anniversaries, industry activities, digital documents, and a link to the Youtube channel. The Provincial Library posts hundreds of videos and clips introducing books and reading books together attracting more than 17,982,846 visits. Thereby, promoting digital resources to readers in the province quickly" - Mr. Thanh said.
From the initial results, it has been shown the role and importance of digital transformation activities in the library sector. Currently, many libraries in the province have developed plans to implement the digital transformation program with specific steps and solutions. The synchronous participation of all levels and sectors is expected to create an important leap in forming a modern library network, creating a breakthrough in serving readers in the information revolution period.
