(News Portal – Dong Nai) – In the first days of the 2024 New Year holiday, the tourism industry has received positive signs when the number of visitors and revenue from tourism has changed with nearly 28 thousand visitors to a number of tourist areas and destinations in the province during the New Year holidays, an increase of about 37% over the same period in 2023.

To prepare for the upcoming peak season of the Lunar New Year, tourist areas and destinations have prepared holidays packages to welcome the Lunar New Year 2024. According to representatives of tourist areas and destinations in the province, during New Year holiday, although the number of days off was not many, the number of visitors as well as revenue from tourism both increased. For example: Suoi Mo tourist area, Cat Tien National Park in Tan Phu District; Buu Long tourist area and Son Tien tourist area in Bien Hoa city. In particular, during this year's New Year holiday, the number of visitors to Son Tien tourist area increased by 60%, with guests staying at 70% of room capacity. Besides tourist areas and attractions, a number of destinations in the province also attract thousands of tourists to go camping and visit, such as: Tri An lake area in Vinh Cuu district, Dinh Quan, and other tourist attractions in Xuan Loc district, Long Khanh city…
Previously, in order to improve the quality of tourism products and services and increase tourist attraction at a number of tourist areas and destinations in the locality, the province has invested nearly 1 trillion VND to renovate and upgrade existing facilities and infrastructure such as: Son Tien Tourist And Ecological City Joint Stock Company is carrying out the construction of the western river area (42ha), bungalow area, and landscape works; Suoi Mo Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company opened an artificial beach with an investment capital of about 10 billion VND, Bcon Investment Joint Stock Company put into operation a 3-star hotel. Health care tourism products (meditation, yoga) are invested in serving guests, in addition to sports activities, nature experiences, cuisine... attracting large number of visitors.
In particular, in the first days of the new year, the tourism industry is expecting a breakthrough when the Ecotourism, Resort, and Entertainment Project (DLST Project) of Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve was approved by the Provincial People's Committee. The forest ecotourism project will meet the goal of exploiting and promoting the potential and advantages of natural resources, culture and historical relics in the Conservation Area on the basis of conservation, sustainable development and mobilization of all available resources in society to protect and develop forests, conserve nature and develop tourism.
Specifically, in terms of economics, by 2025, the number of tourists coming to the reserve will reach 50,000 visitors a year, revenue from tourism activities will reach 15 billion VND. By 2030, it will attract 120 thousand visitors/year, with revenue reaching about 40 billion VND. Socially, it will create jobs for nearly 400 workers by 2025 and nearly 1.6 thousand workers by 2030. Focus on promoting the community-based tourism development model, creating conditions and supporting the community. Local communities build tourism technical facilities and develop infrastructure in potential areas... Regarding the environment, contribute to propagandizing and educating local people and tourists about the values natural, cultural, historical... By 2030, 100% of accommodation, restaurant, and entertainment service establishments will have standard wastewater collection and treatment systems.
Sharing about the direction of tourism development in the coming time, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thi Ngoc Loan said that the province would continue to improve the quality of products and services and digital transformation in the tourism sector; train and foster tourism human resources and raising awareness of the community about tourism development; continue to organize focused and key tourism promotion activities; link up and cooperate with other localities in tourism development; support and remove difficulties and problems businesses are having, ensuring security, order and safety for tourists.

According to Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan, in addition to expanding product variety, the tourism industry is responsible for ensuring the tourism environment and implementing measures to ensure security, order and tourism safety. At the same time, continue to organize training courses on tourism for workers at tourism businesses; improve cultural and behavioral skills for communities participating in tourism activities; equipping state management officials with knowledge about tourism. In addition, the tourism industry should organize tourism promotion activities in many forms (online platforms, publications, tourism surveys, events, tourism exhibitions...), especially applying information technology in propagandizing and promoting Dong Nai tourism to domestic and foreign tourists and businesses.
