Issue purchase price for rooftop solar power in 2024

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) – Vietnam Electricity has just announced the purchase price of electricity from rooftop solar power systems in 2024. ​

Accordingly, based on the central exchange rate of Vietnamese Dong to USD announced by the State Bank of Vietnam, EVN announces the purchase price of electricity from rooftop solar power systems in 2024 as follows:

For rooftop solar power systems that are put into operation and generate electricity and have meter readings confirmed in the period from June 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019, the electricity purchase price in 2024 is 2,231 VND/kWh, equivalent to 9.35 US cents/kWh. For rooftop solar power systems that are put into operation and generate electricity and have meter readings confirmed in the period from July 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, the electricity purchase price in 2024 is 1,999 VND/kWh, equivalent to 8.38 US cents/kWh. These prices do not include value added tax.

Compared to the purchase price in 2023, the USD exchange rate remains the same. However, compared to Vietnamese Dong, the price in 2024 is higher due to the value difference.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, currently in the province there are more than 5.9 thousand solar power systems connected to the national power system with a total installed capacity of nearly 690MWp, the proportion of solar power accounting for about 5% of total output of commercial electricity in the entire province. ​
