​Strengthening friendly relations and cooperation in various fields between Vietnam – Canada

In the 28th and 29th of June, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of Congress - Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Senior Delegation of Vietnam paid a visit and had a working session in Canada. The delegation included Pham Thi Hai Chuyen - Commissioner of Party Central Committee, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Phung Quoc Hien – Commissioner of Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Finance Committee - Congressional Budget; Ta Ngoc Tan - Commissioner of Party Central Committee, Director of National Administrative Politics Institute of Ho Chi Minh and Nguyen Thanh Phong -  Commissioner of Party Central Committee, Provincial Party Committee Secretary of Ben Tre Province. Le Sy Vuong Ha - Vietnam Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Canada also joined the activities of the delegation. 


The delegation was greeted by Canadian Governor - Devit Gionxton (David Johnston) and joined the working sessions Leaders of Canadian Congress. Vice Chairman of National Congress – Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan conveyed regard and official invitation to Vietnam to the President of the Senate - Noel Kinsella on behalf of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Hung - Chairman of Congress.
 
Canadian leaders expressed their deep feelings for the country and its citizens, also highly appreciated efforts of the nation in economic - social development, macroeconomic stabilization and social security, particularly in the implementation of poverty alleviation. Governor Gionxton described his impression of Vietnam on his first official visit to the country in 11/2011, which was the first one for nearly 40 years of diplomatic relation between the two nations.
 
Kinxela - Senate President invited Senior Leader of Vietnam Congress to attend Summit World Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) which will be held in Quebec in 10/2012.
 
Congressional Leaders of the two nations expressed their satisfaction regarding the positive and rapid development of bilateral relations in various fields in recent years. The two sides agreed on promoting measures to further deepen the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation in a new context, particularly promoting parliamentary diplomacy towards the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations in 2013.
 
The leaders of two Congresses highly appreciated the re-establishment Canada-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group in 6/2011 and agreed to promote the activities of the Group, contributing to the enhancement of understanding and tie relationship between the Congresses and the people of the two nations.
 
Congressional leaders of Canada highly appreciated that Vietnam has used effectively development aid and affirmed Vietnam was one of the 20 countries prioritized to be aided by Canada, also emphasized that cooperation in education and training of human resources is the main purpose of cooperation in future.
 
The two sides also discussed specific measures to contribute to promoting cooperation of economy, trade and investment, including that Canada will consider to prolong preferential tariff regime (GSP) to Vietnam, soon recognize Vietnam as market economy and coordinate in the process of negotiating Trans-Pacific Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP)..
 
* On working in capital Ottawa, Senior Leadership Delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam had an appointment with the leader of the Ministry of Public Service and Women, visited the Public Administration School of Canada and attended the Seminar on "Enhancing the contribution of women in socio-economic development ", combined in the framework of project "improving leadership ability of women in the state sector in the context of international economic integration "(implemented by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the United Nation Development Agency in Vietnam).
 
The two sides focused on exchanging legislative experience, building policy as well as implementing gender equality in each country and agreed to strengthen bilaterally international cooperation in order to raise the contribution of women in development of economy - society.
 
On the afternoon of 30/6, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of Congress - Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Senior Delegation of Vietnam finished the visit to the United States and Canada and returned to Vietnam./.
