Honoring 100 typical Blood Donors of the country

​Giving her speech at the celebration, Ms Nguyen Thi Kim tien, Minister of Health confirmed: Each year, our country need about 1.7 millions blood unit for emergency aid and treatment for patients; most of whom suffer from serious accident injury or fatal diseases, and blood transfusion is the only way to keep them alive. Without blood or any blood-products, most of modern treatments may not be successful such as: Medical treatment, radiation therapy, organ transplantation... Blood can only be donated by people who are healthy, safe and willing to help patients. For that reason, to celebrate “the World honor Blood donors day (June 14th)”, the National Steering Committee on Blood Donor organized “Typical Blood Donors of the Country 2012 celebration” to honor those magnanimous gestures. Especially 100 blood donors honored today are typically kind-hearted people among humane community. Those respectful actions are not only helping patients to overcome fatal diseases, reducing blood difficulties for emergency aid and treatment but also examples of humanities and compassions.

Among 100 Typical Blood Donors of the Country honored this year, 37 volunteers have donated more than 20 times, 13 volunteers not only donated but also encouraged hundreds of people to join in Blood Donation Campaign. Some of typical Blood Donors this years are Mr. Vu Ngoc Linh (65 times – Ho Chi Minh city); Ms Kieu Thi Le Hoa (50 times – Tay ninh); and there is Ho family (Luc Ngan – Bac Giang) have encouraged lots of people in the family to join the Blood Donation Campaign.

This year, WHO conveys the message “Every Blood Donor Is A Hero” to continue recognizing and honoring heroic gestures of Blood Donors, those who have spared their time, health and blood to save the lives of people they do not even know.

On the same day, a big Blood Donation day with the message “One action – connecting lives” was held within the Honoring Blood Donors Celebration in Ha Noi capital. It is estimated that 1.500 Blood Units for treatment are likely to be collected.
