On 11th June, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee – Dinh Quoc Thai presided over the meeting with the departments, sectors and locals to review and discuss the reports on the socioeconomic status for the first 6 months of 2012.
For the past six months, the gross domestic product (GDP) in the local is estimated to reach 46.3% of the plan, up by 11.8% over the same period. This increase is better than that of the nation and some other locals. However, as estimated for the first 6 months of the year, industrial production index rose only by 6.3% over the same period, in which the index of state owned enterprise (Enterprise) fell by 1.3%, and that of non state-owned enterprises and enterprises with foreign investment increased slowly over the same period last year.
Meeting about the economic – social report for the first 6 months
In addition, the estimated export turnover for the first six months of this year rose by 10.5% over the same period, equal to one third of the increase for the first six months in 2011. Import turnover for 6 months is only equal to 97.2% of that over the same period. 2012 was the first year after many years, Dong Nai has created export surplus, however, this is the expression of concern for production difficulties, many companies have reduced their import of machinery and raw materials and maintained only moderate operation rate. Total state budget of the province for the past 6 months is also slow: has increase by only 6.4% over the same period in 2011. Other criteria such as domestic investment attraction and business registration capital … are low. However, foreign investment attraction for the first 6 months is very positive; so far it has reached over 883 million USD, equal to 98% of the set plan in 2012.
At the meeting, many ideas expressed that it was necessary to adjust the criterion of domestic investment attraction from 18 thousand billion down to 10 thousand billion in 2012.
Speaking at a meeting, Chairman of Dinh Quoc Thai province People’s Committee emphasized that although the economic situation have been facing a lot of difficulties, Dong Nai still enjoys many advantages compared to other locals. Therefore, the authorities should take advantage of this to accomplish the objectives. First of all, they need to find ways to overcome the difficulties for production and business because only when they ensure the development of production, they can ensure social security and other objectives.
