The 2nd Provincial Congress of Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin

​On the morning of May 30, The 2nd Congress of the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin was held at the Provincial People's Committee Hall (for the period of 2012 – 2017). Lieutenant General Nguyen The Luc, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and leaders of the Province: Commissioner of the Central Party and Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Commissioner of Standing Committee of Central Party Committee and Director of Propaganda Department of Provincial Party Committee Bùi Ngọc Thanh ; and Vice President of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri attended to the Congress.


​The Congress summarized the activities of the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin’s in recent years and described the orientation and duties for the next 5 years. According to the orientation, it is necessary to focus on building, developing and completing the system of the Association; calling for and increasing the Association’s budget and accelerating socialization of helping the victims settling down… Besides, the Association also pays attention to providing education deeply and widely to all the classes of people in the Province about the consequences of the orange/ dioxin used by America in Vietnam War in order to appeal support from all Vietnamese citizens to fight for the victims.

The Congress also elected the new 22 members of Executive Committee. Ms. Dao Nguyen (former President of the Provincial Woman Union) was appointed to the position of President of the Provincial Association and Ms. Ngo Thi Nhan (former President of the Tan Phu District Woman Union) was appointed to the position of Vice President.
 
On behalf of the provincial leader at the Congress, Vice President of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri said that he highly appreciated the ideas of the Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in recent years. He suggested the Association think about the quality of victims’ healthcare; approve and increase the Association’s budget; combine with mass – media to widely propagate the orange consequences for different classes of people…
