According to the reports of the Provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front, in 2006, the Fronts of all levels mobilized more than VND 70 billion from individuals, units, organizations to help people to reduce poverty, build houses of love, to relieve and grant scholarships. Within the year, 1,588 houses of love worth VND 12,420,304,000 were built; 198 houses worth VND 424,012,000 were fixed; 2,754 scholarships were mobilized; 870 bicycles worth VND 1.5 billion, 3,780 text-books and notebooks worth VND 11,290,000 were granted and so on.
In particular, in the year, the Provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front received 109 complaints of denouncement from citizens which were transferred to jurisdictional authorities to solve. Besides, the Fronts of all levels engaged in solving hundreds of denouncing petitions and supervising all socio-economic fields. Thanks to the mobilization and propaganda, the Front contributed to increasing the rate of hamlets and quarters of education to 80.89% and households of education to 91%. Mission aspects of religion, ethnic groups, people gathering, dialogues with the people were evaluated to have many innovations and to be highly effective. However, in the past year, the Fronts of all levels have still had limitations such as supervision and democracy promotion at grassroots level was not much; the grasp of situation, desires and expectations of the people was slow; the propaganda of the Party and State’s policies and laws was not wide and deep, not highly effective; the quality of the campaign “All the people unite to build an educational life in residential areas” was still limited.
Among the operational directions of the Fronts of all levels for the time coming, beside permanent activities, the Provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front will intensify the task of poverty reduction , decreasing the rate of poor households down to below 7.5%; continue striving to have more 51 communes, wards, and towns where temporary and dilapidated houses will be eliminated; and strive for 82% educational hamlets and quarters and 90% educational households.
The meeting also elected two supplementary members of the Provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front to replace those who got a transfer or retired. As a result, Mr. Do Trung Tien (Dong Nai Newspaper) and Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hoa (Dong Nai Society of Literature and Art) were elected as the members of the Sixth Provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front (term of 2004-2009).
