Ministry of Education and Training held the First Non-public Universities and Colleges Conference

On January 31, at Dongnai province’s Square took place the First Non-public Universities and Colleges Conference chaired by Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan- Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training. The Conference saw the attendance of Ms. Huyen Thi Nga- Vice-President of the provincial People’s Committee and 200 leaders of non-public universities and colleges.

According to the reports of the Ministry of Education and Training, implementing the State and the Party’s guidelines since 1998 up to now, our country has established 45 private and semi-public universities and colleges. At the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan- Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training required attendants to re-evaluate the operational situation of non-public universities and colleges during the past years, thenceforth to identify duties and measures as well as itinerary of executing key missions in the period of 2007-2010 and to raise specific solutions and suggestions to construct.

Stating at the Conference, Ms. Huynh Thi Nga, Vice - President of the provincial People’s Committee said that the demand on human resources of scientific and technical knowledge was so great. Every year, Dongnai Province trained about 53,000 people vocationally, solving the employment problem for about 70,000 to 80,000 people among whom bachelors of art and engineers accounted for 15% to 20%. Annually, apart from the number of high school graduates who desired to continue to study at Universities, there were thousands of cadres, employees and workers in businesses and factories who all had study demands to increase their levels. Currently in the area of the province, besides Professional College, Dongnai Technical Workers School, Dongai Pedagogy College, Sonadezi Management College and Industry University located in the area, Lac Hong University and Dongnai Technical Industry University made quite a number of contributions in the realization of the province’s human resource training program.

The ideas of attending schools were that the State needed to have a clear and partial mechanism of policies in investments on school establishment in order to encourage non-public schools to develop on the proper purpose of education branch. The Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan noted non-public Universities and Colleges’ petitions and at the same time pointed out their weaknesses.
