Long Khanh Town’s Party Committee: Increase leading capability in economic development

In comparison with other localities in the province, Long Khanh town has special advantages in economic development. Currently, trade and service account for 52% and industry 26.9% of the town’s economic framework.

Realizing the advantages in trade and service, from the early beginning of the first term (at the end of 2005), the Town Party Committee set goals, creating every condition for trade and service activities, from cities to countrysides, to promote advantages. As a result, till now, the whole province has had 5,285 trade and service businesses. Among those, many forms of business are encouraged to open by the town such as company branches, private enterprises, co-operatives, household businesses. However, the Town Party Committee defined that in order to make trade and service activities grow up in strength, there is a need of large investment on key and main zones and residential centers. Therefore, the town’s guideline is to focus on deploying new construction and planning projects: The town’s central market, trade centers, supermarkets and so on. Besides developing in the central part of the town, trade and service activities also have the priority to develop in rural markets. Nowadays, in the rural area of the town, hamlet markets or town markets, comprehensive goods-selling points are opened everywhere.

Long Khanh town and its adjacent districts are large areas of agricultural product sources that are able to meet the demands of export agricultural product processing. Consequently, the goal set by the town is to intensify agricultural product exports and local small- scaled industries. On the other hand, Long Khanh is also a large-scaled depot of specialty fruits  and therefore needs to be established as a brand name, both solving the outlet for farmers and promoting the diversification of trade and service activities.

In the field of industry, at present, the town forwards the construction of Binh Loc industrial zone and industrial group including Bao Vinh, Suoi Tre 1 and Suoi Tre 2. In addition, the Town Party Committee also gave the guidelines to actively build and unify the mechanism and investment encouraging policies in order to develop industries and small-scaled industries that suit the planning. Among those, it is prior to develop agricultural and food product processing industry for exports together with on the spot material sources, and advantageous industries such as mechanical manufacture served for agricultural production and o forth.

In order to make the town’s socio-economy go up, the Town Party Committee defines that there must be a worth staff of leading and managing cadres. One of the top-ranking duties now is to renovate the cadre work.

At present, Long Khanh Party Committee made up plans of training and cultivating from political reasoning to professional knowledge to the staff of key existing cadres and planned ones. Specifically, from the early stage of the first term (at the end of 2005) till now, the town has appointed 235 cadres and Party members to be trained politics and university majors, among which public administrative management major of economics university separately has 133 cadres.

Another source of future cadres are excellent people of young age and great knowledge. In order to attract them to work in the local political system, the Town Party Committee produces measures to develop the Party. So as to enhance the leading capability in economic development, the Town Party Committee is making drafts and put “the Regulations on responsibilities of Members of Party executive committees in contacting and answering the inquiries of cadres and Party members” into practice in the coming time. Besides, the Town Party Committee also sets up regulations on making and carrying out Resolutions; increases the quality of counsels; and performs criticism and self-criticism among the Party. In addition to that, Long Khanh Party Committee gives the demands of renovating the leading and steering styles of comrades in the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee, that above all have to keep in close touch with the areas of wards, hamlets, quarters and communes. On the other hand, in order to enhance the leading capability in economy, Party organizations have to give Resolutions close to the reality and reinforce the effective performance.
