Dong Nai province is located in the Southern key economic zone with high industrial growth rate, making up high density of economic structure, let’s say by the end of 2006, the industry accounted for 57.4% of GPD in the economic structure of the province. However, the industry  develops just widely. Some mainstay industries such as: textile, garment, footwear, automobile & motorbike mechanics, electronics etc. still put the emphasis on the processing and the assembly. Raw materials and spare parts are mainly exported with low added value  and competitive capacity, etc. due to the fact that auxiliary industries have not strongly developed Therefore, the purpose of this seminar was to evaluate the actual state of auxiliary industry in the province, at the same time analyze general trend in developing auxiliary industry. In general, the auxiliary industry comprises of all sectors producing intermediate products (spare parts and components) to supply for the assembly industry.

At the seminar, some matters were also discussed: the actual state and orientation of developing auxiliary industries across Dong Nai province for the 2007-2015 period, and the vision towards 2020; the role of auxiliary industry in economic development; material source of leather footwear and the auxiliary industry; the actual state of pig-iron casting in Thach Phu commune, Vinh Cuu district; the auxiliary industry development in the collective economy.

Prioritizing auxiliary industries for development from now to 2020 is based on three criteria: those that manufacture auxiliary products for assembly industries with “high quantity of auxiliary industry” (automobile & motorbike mechanics, and electronics); those with “large export density” (electronics, textile, garment, and footwear); those that attract foreign investors and great foreign groups and those with “high value of industrial production”.
