Rattan-bamboo knitting products are really diversified in term of models including dishes, trays, pots, chairs, tables, shelves, etc. It uses available and agricultural materials (rattan-bamboo leaves, water hyacinth, sedges, coconut fibers, banana ocreas , wild fibers, etc…), contributing to support the output of agricultural products. Thanks to it, rural labors have work, make use of spare time after crops as well as increase their incomes. According to source from Dongnai Industry Encouragement Center, the average income of labors in this field is nearly VND1,00 billion per month.
In order to continue enhancing development of this trade in next time, As to Dongnai Industry encouragement center’s orientation till 2010, turnover will reach VND 300.00 billion per year. To approach this, it is necessary to expand manufacturing area, renovate technology, increase production capacity, enhance quality as well as reduce the product price to raise the competition capacity.
Accordingly, material need till 2010 will consist of 18,000 tons of water hyacinths, banana ocreas, along with 4000.00 tons of rattan, bamboo, Neohouzeaua, sedge, coconut fiber. These materials are expected to be exploited in the country, or the province and one part of them are imported from Lao and Cambodia. Labors till 2010 are estimated by 7,500 people. Whose who are skillful will be priorly trained through passing skills, and skillful people direct unskillful ones as well as open training classes in each local.
As for market issue, The orientation is to continue to strengthen current exporting market (mostly Europe and Asia), develop new market especially potential markets, expand export by mode of enhancing commercial activities such as fairs, exhibitions, handicrafts presentations.
