The result of industrial production development in Dong Nai province has brought into full play the provincial advantages and maintains its high growth rate. The growth rate of 2007’s industrial production value reached 22.4% against 2006,exceeding 2007’s target and plan ( 2007’s target is 19.5%) with the growth rates of industrial sectors : central state industrial sector 14.1%, local state industrial sector 13.3%, non-sate industrial sector 21.7%; especially, foreign invested industrial sector 24.8%-the highest one. The industries’ development in this year contributed to boost the economic growth exceeding the province’s set target
The industrial structure divided into economic sectors has made certain progress. Non-state economic sector maintains its stable density in the economic structure. Foreign invested economic sector continues to raise its density and plays a key role in industries’ development. As for the industry structure, key and spearhead industries (mechanics, electronics-electricity) maintain their high growth rate. The structure of mechanical industry has been reformed actively.
Government management in industry has been showed its vital role in industries’ development. Construction and deployment of major planning has been stepped up. Programmes and projects on encouraging and supporting development of industry, especially, rural industry, have been paid more intention. Specifically, in 2007, Conducting projects for restoration and development of Dong Nai province’s traditional handicraft industry in the period of 2006-2010 as well as programs of developing repair mechanics network for rural agriculture in the period of 2006-2010 has been deployed. Moreover, the project on developing brocade weaving in the Ta Lai commune, Tan Phu district was completed and “start a business” classes were organized, etc.
However, in 2007 Dong Nai’s industry showed some limitations in not reforming its industry structure actively ( Industries using a great number of labors such as textile and garment, footwear, wood processing maintain their raised economic structure density, resulting to rapid growth rate of industrial output value, but the growth speed of industrial GDP is slow. Some spearhead industries have still based strongly on outwork. Infrastructure facilities for development of small-to-medium-size businesses have not met demands. Furthermore, the manpower lacks tech and high-tech workers and low-skilled workers.
In that situation, Dong Nai industry set such objectives and directions for 2008 as paying more attention to economic structure change in the direction of giving priority to call for big corporations with big industrial potentiality, market, and investment capital along with encouraging investment in hi-tech industries, continuing to prioritize development of 16 spearhead industries together with industries having advantages for comparison and using local resources such as agricultural and food products processing industry as well as boosting the deployment of industrial encouragement projects and programmes, etc. with an effort to achieve industrial output value in 2008 of VND78,152 billion, up 23% against 2007.
