Continuing to replicate the area of durian given code of planting region

​Recently, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in cooperation with the People's Committee of Long Khanh City organized a workshop on developing the code of planting areas and packing bases for export durian in Dong Nai province. Participating in the workshop are cooperatives, enterprises are setting up the planting area code, packing facilities for export durian in the province.

The workshop introduced the following contents: Experience in building, managing area code and numbering of the basis of packing durian exported to the Chinese market; application of electronic log and traceability of exported durian origin; problem of use of pesticides and pesticide residues in production of exported durian...

At the workshop, durian exporters in and out of the province expect Dong Nai to continue to support farmers and enterprises to replicate the area and facilities to be given the code of plantation areas, the number of the basis for packing durian exports to the Chinese market. In that, monitoring activities in the control of pesticide residues on products; in impersonation of planting area code... should be more concerned. It is necessary to focus on propaganda and training to gradually change the farming practices of people according to the requirements of export markets; in the construction of chain links and cooperation between farmers, operatives and enterprises in the direction of sustainability.

Representatives of Durian Planting Cooperative in Long Khanh City made a speech at the workshop. 

The total area of durian in Dong Nai has nearly 9.2 thousand hectares with more than 8 thousand hectares being harvested, the output reached about 50.2 thousand tons per year. Of which, China is the main consumer market accounts for about 70%, the remaining 30% of domestic consumption. To date, in the province there are 7 plantations and three durian packing facilities that have been approved by the Department of Plant Protection and the General Administration of China's Customs with a total area of more than 550ha of durian. In addition, there are 13 dossiers for registration of durian area number with a total area of 787.7 hectares; 5 packing facilities have submitted dossiers.
