That is the content discussed at the conference “Southeastern Logistics: Sharing and perspective from experts,” led by Investment and Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City co-operated with the Vietnam International Arbitration Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Logistics Association held on November 23.

Sharing information at the workshop, experts said that there are about 14.8 thousand enterprises providing logistics services, accounting for 49.2% of the total logistics enterprises in the country. In this case, the focus is mainly in the HCM city with more than 11 thousand enterprises, Binh Duong nearly 1.7 thousand and Dong Nai has more than 1.2 thousand enterprises.
As an economic leader, the Southeast region is also an important area of logistics infrastructure, taking on the bulk of the country's cargo and container volumes. However, there are many “bottlenecks," highlighted by infrastructure, important issues impacting logistics operations.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Head of Research Department of Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute (VLI) said that logistics costs are generally high; the link between logistics service enterprises and import and export enterprises has not been as effective as expected. To enhance the possibility of synchronous development, it is necessary to strengthen activities to attract capital, improve local autonomy in the operation of infrastructure, deploy logistics activities to achieve better efficiency and quality. Similarly, Mr. Huynh Van Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sai Gon Port JSC, said that the infrastructure system of the region has many bottlenecks, leading to many challenges for logistics enterprises during operation. Along with that is the shortage of qualified human resources; soft infrastructure of technology, digital transformation... is also at the beginning.
Also at the conference, the experts shared about disputes arising from logistics activities, some consequences and recommendations. Accordingly, when performing transactions, enterprises should be very careful in building, supplementing and adjusting contract regulations, as well as carefully considering standard business conditions to avoid creating undesirable disadvantages.
