Straw Mushroom of Loc An Cooperative, Long Thanh district
Old straw-mushroom embryo has many drawbacks
Attaching to the craft of straw mushrooms for a long time, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, Loc An Straw Mushroom Cooperative (Group 1, Thanh Binh Hamlet, Loc An Commune, Long Thanh District) noticed that the source of varieties in the production and cultivation of straw mushrooms plays an important role, determining the yield and quality of finished mushrooms. However, the traditional source of mushroom embryo that the cooperative where she works and the local people have been using has many limitations.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien said that the old straw mushroom embryo is thin, small fruit, limited productivity and especially fast growth despite causing many disadvantages in harvest for mushroom growers. Farmers may have to watch all night to pick mushrooms because if delayed, mushrooms can be sprung during the night resulting in samples and mushroom quality is not high.
Therefore, Ms. Lien and her colleagues have embarked on research with the aim of creating new sources of embryo to help farmers have the best source of meow seeds, for superior productivity, not cocooning raw materials, reducing the cost of collecting, beautiful, large, heavy weight to meet the needs of customers who do not suffer from small injuries.
Expanding the consumption market
After a long time of research and testing, Ms. Lien has created a new source of mushrooms embryo produced by cotton seed shell (using the waste source of 100% cotton yarn in the factory) and husks.
Up to now, Ms. Lien's project on breeding straw mushrooms has been successful when purebring a new source of seed according to the temperature and climate of Vietnam.. From there, she began to expand the business model of mushroom embryo to the North — Central — South, which focuses on potential markets such as Long Khanh City, Dong Nai province and Tay Ninh province — where straw mushroom production is very large export to Cambodia and neighboring countries.
According to Ms. Lien, in order to introduce this valuable source of mushroom embryo to households, in addition to introducing and selling through social media channels, she also introduced meow by directly producing 23 small and medium mushroom farms at the facility. At the same time, expand the market by bringing customers to the model and manual of the best meow according to the climate and temperature of Vietnam.
In the process of expanding the market, most of her clients have positive feedback. The new embryo variety researched by Ms. Lan not only has outstanding advantages in quality, productivity but also the price she put on the market is also very competitive. If the straw-mushroom embryo on the market is priced at over 20 thousand VND/kg, then the price of Mushroom embryo of Loc An Farm is only 16-17 thousand VND/kg.
In the coming time, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien hopes to expand and dominate the market of straw mushroom embryo in the country, especially the mushroom barns in the South East and South West, and will further expand the market to Thailand and Cambodia.
Ms. Lien noticed that in addition to the direct benefits of quality and productivity that the new source of meow varieties brought, this project also helped reduce harvest (due to not staying up at night to harvest mushrooms), bring profit to farmers. When there are good varieties, farmers can use the raw materials released by local agriculture such as straw, dried banana trees, bagasse, corn cob, coffee bean pods, soybean stalks... to grow straw mushrooms. Thereby, contributing to changing economic life, and creating more jobs for local workers.
