On the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the day when Uncle Ho established the Vietnam Voluntary Youth Force (15/7/1950 – 15/7/2012), State President Truong Tan Sang had a meeting with the relatives of the voluntary youth delegation. 70 delegates present at the meeting were typical voluntary youth in the harsh time of war. Most of them took part in two resistance wars and arduous battles, building and protecting the main routes, loading and transporting millions of tons of weapons and ammunition, food, military uniform to main frontlines; assisting regular army in battling.

At the present, in spite of old ages, former voluntary youth still remains their passion and enthusiasm, as well as eagerness to take part in social work and public propagation of the implementation of Party’s policies and State Laws. In the field of economy, many families of former voluntary youth promote the revolutionary tradition, showing activeness and creativeness in production, becoming typical examples of good business, contributing to poverty reduction and socioeconomic status in localities. In order to show deep appreciation and concern, many delegates proposed that several policies should be supplemented and completed to enhance the quality of the operation of the union, consolidating the determination as well as the desire to contribute to National Building and Defence.

On the occasion of the traditional day, State President Truong Tan Sang affirmed that the Communist Party and State always pay much attention to enabling voluntary youth force to promote its tradition, being an example for young generation to follow. The State President was so moved to hear the achievements of voluntary force in the era of reform; he also praised the individuals and units taking part in social activities, continuing to devote their abilities, intelligence and experiences to the national construction and development. Quoting the deep advice of Uncle Ho, the State President said that the former voluntary youth union of all levels should pay more attention to supporting the activities of the union, making them more and more practical and effective, especially in terms of union member support; assisting the government in socioeconomic life management. After listening to the statement deep in the heart of former voluntary youth members, the State President assumed that, in the time of resistance war, the country depended too much on the devotion of the voluntary youth force to gain its independence. In the era of peace, the Party Committee and Government of all levels should respectfully accept the positive proposals of youth in order successfully carry out the Party’s policies; contributing to the nation’s wealth and solidity, undertaking the achievements of previous generation.
