A professional training course for Vietnamese teachers in Cambodia was opened 17 in Phnom Penh on the morning of September by the Vietnamese-Cambodian General Association, in order to meet the need of improving Vietnamese language teaching quality for overseas Vietnamese children in Cambodia.

The sessions of the training course were lectured by the teachers of Dong Nai province. From September 17- 28, 15 students who are teachers of Vietnamese language in Phnom Penh were trained in methods and contents to organize educational activities; school management and professional management; and methods to compose and give lectures using electronic lesson plans.
Over the past years, Dong Nai province has organized many effective activities to support Vietnamese classes in Cambodia, such as donating books, notebooks, school supplies, and computers, as well as provide training support to improve teaching capacity.
This training course is one of the effective and practical activities of Dong Nai province to help meet the urgent need to update the knowledge and teaching skills of the Vietnamese teachers in Phnom Penh.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Kiem, Deputy Director of the Primary Education Division (Education and Training Department of Dong Nai province), said that the lecturers of the course are principal staff of primary schools in Dong Nai province.
The members of the delegation defined this mission as not only performing their political tasks assigned, but also an opportunity for them to express the feelings for their colleagues and overseas Vietnamese people in Cambodia and responsibilities for conserving cultural identity and preserving Vietnamese language among the overseas Vietnamese community.
There are more than 5,000 overseas Vietnamese children studying at Vietnamese teaching schools in Cambodia. Particularly, in Phnom Penh, there are more than 300 primary students studying Vietnamese-Khmer program at three schools under the management of the Vietnamese-Cambodian General Association.
