50th Anniversary of Issuing the Fire Prevention Ordinance and 10-year Summation Meeting of Implementation of Fire Prevention Law

The anniversary was attended by Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee and Chairperson of Dong Nai People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai, and representatives for departments, committees, sectors, and local authorities.

On October 4, 1961, President Ho Chi Minh City signed to issue Fire Prevention Ordinance. Since then, Dong Nai Fire Prevention Police have overcome many a challenge to obtain great achievements in fire prevention and to contribute to preserving local order and security and protecting people’s life and property.

In order to implement fire prevention effectively, launching propaganda campaigns and calling for all classes of people to participate in fire prevention are determined as key tasks.

Over the past years unions and authorities have cooperated with one another in implementing propaganda programs and in disseminating information on fire prevention law and knowledge.

In addition, the establishment of fire prevention forces and facilities has been paid attention to and strengthened.

Up to now, there have been more than 1,600 grassroots fire prevention teams in the province.

However, the summary report presented at the meeting says that over 10 years 451 fires have occurred (up by 21 cases), which killed 13 victims (down by 18 cases), wounded 49 victims (up by 33 cases), and cause damage worth VND674.7 billion.

Addressing the meeting, Chairperson of Dong Nai People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai acknowledged and commended the province’s fire prevention forces for the past achievements and asked that fire prevention ordinance continue being implemented effectively, that fire prevention be considered as a regular and continual task, that inspection be conducted at the facilities with a high risk of fire occurrence and in key areas, and that propaganda methods be changed to help raise people, government agencies, and companies’ awareness and actions of fire prevention.

At the meeting, 16 collectives with many outstanding achievements over 10 years of enforcement of Fire Protection Law were awarded certificates of merit.

29 collectives and 31 individuals received Director of Dong Nai Police’s certificates of merit.
