Get-together Meeting of overseas nationals and their kindred in Dongnai province

On the threshold of a new year, on behalf of the province’s leaders, President of the provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Vo Van Mot send New Year’s greetings to overseas nationals and their kith and kin in the province and inform the socio-economic development situation of the home province in the past year. He stressed that on the way to integration and development, the province highly appreciated nationals for their both technical material potential and intellectual potential. In 2006, Vietnam officially joined the WTO, further integrating into the international economy, which opened many prospects. Overseas nationals like business people and intellectuals will be the bridge for introducing an image of innovative Vietnam to foreign countries and calling upon potential foreign investors at the locality.

Dongnai province has about 25,000 Vietnamese overseas compatriots now living in other countries and territories with about 15,000 turns of them repatriating to Dong Nai every year. During the past years, nationals and their relatives have made a number of contributions, jointly building new life like giving gifts to poor households, taking part in philanthropic activities, helping difficult households out with manufacture capital, building house of love, and building schools. Particularly in 2005, the amount of money mobilized from Vietnamese overseas nationals and their kindred mounted to VND 2 billion and 30.6 tons of rice. The most typical was Thong Nhat district which during the last two years mobilized the overseas compatriots to build 54 houses of love worth VND 301 million; subscribe VND 161 million to the charity; supported VND 737 million to local traffic work and so on.

At the meeting, as regards work orientation for overseas Vietnamese in the forthcoming time, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duc - Vice-President of the Vietnamese Father Front Committee of Dongnai province, Head of the Propagandism Board of Dongnai Overseas Vietnamese and their relatives had guidelines to suggest that the province establish a Society of getting in touch Overseas Vietnamese, Overseas Business People Club for a purpose of exchanging experience, investment procedures, and socio-economic situation of the province with overseas compatriots.

In the past time, many overseas Vietnamese business persons directly invested on Dong Nai and made a lot of contribution to the task of building Dongnai province. From 2004 till now, there have been 21 overseas Vietnamese business persons from America, Australia, Belgium, China, France, Italy, Japan, Denmark and so on, investing on Dong Nai with a total capital of nearly VND 98 billion. As an overseas compatriot in America, investing on business in Dongnai province, Mr. Bui Quoc Cuong - Deputy General Director of Dong Nai Long Chau Limited Company expressed his excitement: “In recent years, Dong Nai has been a pioneer province in the field of appealing foreign investment. The province has many clear policies to support foreign businesses’ investment, so our company has received the support from the authorities of all levels and from boards and branches in terms of investment procedures and the like”. After 10 years of operation, the company has formed a group of subsidiary companies doing business with various types of commodities. Besides, the company has made a number of contributions to local charity work.

With a desire to jointly contribute to building the father land of Dongnai province in particular and Vietnam in general, Mr. Do Tan Sy - a Doctor in Physics Science who is doing research and teaching at Bruxen University expressed his hope that there would be many intellectuals in law, public health and education and etc. investing on the establishment of offices in Dongnai province. And he expected Dong Nai would develop more infrastructures, areas of service, amusement and shopping in order to attract overseas national intellectuals to turn back for living and working here.
