26th February morning: Opening of 2006 National Ideology-Cuture Work Summation and 2007 Duties’ Deployment Meeting

This morning, February 26th, 2007, in Dong Nai, 2006 National Ideology-Cuture Work Summation and 2007 Duties’ Deployment Meeting officially opened. Mr. Nong Duc Manh - the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party attended and chaired the meeting. At the meeting, there were the attendances of 400 representative leaders of Ministries, Committees, Branches, provincial Party Committees, City Party Committees and Departments of Propaganda and Training of 64 provinces and cities all over the country.

Mr. Nong Duc Manh - the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party and leaders of the Central Committee, Ministries, Committees, Branches Provinces and Cities and organizations attended the meeting.

The meeting this time took place in the background of a special year with many successive significant political events: The Tenth National Party Members’ Congress; Vietnam officially became the 150^th member of the World Trade Organization (the WTO); the Leaders’ Conference of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (14^th APEC) ended successfully; Asian countries offered candidates for Unpermanent Members’ seats in United Nations Security Council in the term of 2008-2009; Vietnam was brought out of the list of Country of Particular Concern (CPC) in terms of religion by the American government and the US Parliament adopted the Permanent Normal Trade Regulations (PNTR) for Vietnam and so on. These are the events that have great positive impacts on the whole social ideology, creating all classes of people’s encouragement, pride and trust in the leadership of our State and Party.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh - a member of the Central Party Committee, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, the President of provincial People’s Council stated to welcome the meeting. In the opening session, the meeting will listen to the reports on 2006’s ideology-culture work summation and 2007’s missions and direction by Mr. Phung Huu Phu - a member of the Central Party Committee, the Deputy Head of the Central Board of Ideology and Culture; and the reports of the Ministry of Culture and Information by Mr. Le Doan Hop - a member of the Central Party Committee and the Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Information.

After listening to the summation reports, the meeting will concentrate on discussing issues relating to ideology-culture work today with a view to increasing further the quality and effectiveness of ideology-culture work in the period of strengthening industrialization and modernization, and deeper and broader integration of the country.

The meeting will take place for 2 days: February 26^th and 27^th, 2007.
