Some electricity-saving measures will soon be applied in Dongnai area

On 6th March morning, the provincial People’s Committee had a working session with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) on the electricity-saving program and some measures for minimizing the lack of electricity of the system.

 At the meeting, the corporation’s leaders said that the droughty situation is happening on a large scale, the amount of water flowing to hydroelectric lakes is low, which makes the lakes lose 2m (correlative to 600 million of kWh electricity) comparing with the same period in 2006. Meanwhile, the demand of electricity use is very high, leading to the risk of lacking it in the whole national electric system this year especially in dry months.

At the meeting, the provincial People’s Committee and EVN agreed on some measures of close combination to realize the electricity - saving program of the government. Specifically, the provincial People’s Committee will steer related Departments and Branches to strengthen the propaganda about electricity – saving in the provincial area by means of mass media; promote economical and effective electric uses in offices; organize investigational delegation for supervising the execution of electricity – saving measures of offices and clients, and timely handling the cases that don’t carry out electricity – saving measures. The minimum electricity – saving target given is 22.75 million kWh in this year.

The provincial People’s Committee will soon produce documents to steer organizations and individuals in the provincial area to carry out promptly some electricity – saving measures. In particular, organizations and office have to economize at least 10% of the electrical power cost of the organizations and units comparing with the same period in 2006; turn off all unnecessary electric equipment when leaving offices or work; cut off the electric source when the equipment is unused; make the most of natural light and ventilation; cut down on lights when there are few people working in offices; reduce at least 50% of the shared lights in the area of corridors and barrier walls; use air-conditioners when really necessary.

As regards public lighting electricity, the number of lights will be decreased down to 50% in streets, squares, parks, public flower-gardens except signs and traffic signalling lights. The units managing the public lighting system have to adjust the appropriate lighting time. Household families don’t use much electricity – consuming equipment in rush hours and turn off electric equipment when it is unused. Businesses have to implement electricity – saving measures such as using electricity properly in accordance with the capacity and additional charge diagram signed in the contract of electricity trading, don’t let electric equipment operate without charge, turn off unnecessary electric equipment in break-time and so on.
