On August 12 morning, Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union’s Standing Committee held a conference to preliminary sum up the five-year implementation of Provincial Party Executive Committee (the 7th term)’s Resolution No.63 on “Youth work and building HCM Communist Youth Union in the industrialization and modernization time from present to 2010” and the program for developing young people launched by the Provincial People's Committee (PC). Present at the conference was PC’s Vice Chairman Ao Van Thinh.

After 5 years of implementation of the Resolution and the Program, there has been significant progress in the building of youth organizations and youth activities with diversified operation and increasing number of youth organizations and membership. This contributes to creating a healthy education environment for young people in the province who is one of the key forces for socio-economic development.

However, there are still a number of shortcomings, shown by the results gained only 50 percent out of 38 targets set. The resolution is just studied but is not greatly applied in daily lives and the content is dry. Education for youth union’s membership is not outspread, formalist and limited. Qualification of youth officials has yet met the demand for the development in the industrialization and modernization time. Playgrounds for youth union’s membership, young people and children are still lacking.

Addressing the conference, Ao Van Thinh said Dong Nai is a province located in the southern key economic zone so youth union’s membership and young people play such a critical role. He asked all sectors to pay more attention and create more condition for the youth, care for their spiritual and material lives and protect for their legal interests and solve their urgent matters, creating a favorable environment for them to develop and devote themselves. He also requested the sectors to promote educating, training and improving the youth generation so that they would become human resources of great ability to serve the industrialization and modernization and integrate into the global economy.
