If compared with December 2007, this consuming price rate rose by 21.56%, but by 28.3% compared with the same period last year.

The high gasoline price hike was considered one of causes for consuming price index increase, particularly the highest CPI increase of vehicles, and postal sector of 9.07% compared with July.

However, after increased in a short period of time, gasoline price has been modified to drop slightly, contributing to not so high CPI increase as predicted. Transport fee increases, but still under control.

Moreover, that the supply of commodities met demand was considered one of causes for controlling consuming price increase. According to the Price Management Department under the Ministry of Finance, the CPIs of many basic foods and foodstuffs have been stable or tended downwards.

That inspection and control is implemented well after gasoline price increase will minimize enterprises taking use of current situation to raise price so high. Especially, well-conducted communication will reduce price hike due to psychology.

To stabilize the domestic CPI, Ministry of Finance says that 8 solutions of proposed by the government should be continued to implement drastically. They are ensuring production to raise supply, implementing monetary policy in the direction of assisting enterprises’ production, and boosting reduction of public expense.

However, according to economists, the inflation control in later this year has still been a difficult problem because of natural disasters, implicit diseases affecting commodities supply along with negative impacts of new ground of world price.
