2008 Summer Voluntary Campaign wrapped up

The ceremony at Tran Bien Temple of Literature

Present at this ceremony were 246 volunteer young soldiers, who represented over 1000 soldiers in this “green summer” campaign. The ceremony was celebrated at the Temple of Literature to offer the campaign’s results to Uncle Ho and predecessors with respect.

After 3 months of ebullient operation, with the youth’s heart and the enthusiasm, the volunteer young soldiers organized more than 3000 summer events for teenagers and children; opened 607 revision classes and gave 600 gifts worth VND100 million (US$6000) to war invalid’s families, isolated families and policy beneficiaries. They also offered 8 houses of compassion and repaired 10 houses of gratitude; collected 20 tons of rubbish; cleared 103 kilometers of sewers, offered 116 bikes, 3444 gifts, 1000 sets of text books to difficulty-hit students… and many other meaningful activities.

Tang Quoc Lap, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union gave certificates of merit to excellent individuals

At this ceremony, 21 teams and 23 individuals having excellent achievements received certificates of merit conferred by the provincial People’s Committee. The Youth Union’s Standing Board gave certificates of merit to 13 teams and 22 individuals having good achievements. Besides, it also gave certificates to 246 volunteer soldiers who were sent to take part in 9 “battlefields” in the province in this green summer.
