Over many generations, Vietnamese families have been formed and developed with very good standards and values, contributing to building the nation’s cultural identity. Thanks to the role of families, over the past years the emulation movement of “Good at national affairs, Responsible for the household” associated with the movement of “Women study positively, work creatively and build a happy family” mobilized by Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Central Vietnamese Women’s Union, really woke up great potentials in woman employees. In 2006, 49,896 families of woman employees recognized by the local as educated families, making up 40% of the total number of woman employees’ families; 27,873 children of such families commended as “Do well at school and live well”; 35,150 women gained the title of progressive labourer; 33,330 women acknowledged with the title “Good at national affairs, Responsible for the household”; 227 women received the certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the provincial People’s Committee.
The meeting praised, honoured and granted the certificates from the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee to 106 families of typical and excellent woman employees in the whole province. A typical family is that of Mrs Pham Thi Kim Tram - Acting Principal of Le Quy Don Junior High school (Cam My District). She is always aware and tries to fulfil the vocation for a mother and a wife in building and protecting a happy family. In particular, she and her husband always share and encourage each other at work. In awards of scientific and technological creativeness exists unfailingly her contribution. The rewards of the couple are two children that both study and behave well. Mrs Tran Thi My Thu - working at the forest product processing workhop, Vinh An protective forest management. As the leader of the direct production team, she always shows her sense of responsibility in labour, helping her team to produce a high effect and exceed the given targets. As for the family, she also represents the responsibility of a wife and a mother to look after her home, being a firm support for her husband to keep his mind on his work and her children on their studies. Working on General Surgery at the General Hospital of Long Thanh region, Mrs Vo Thi Thu Van strives to increase specialist skills as well as to fulfil her duties of looking after the family. Her family is a model one, being on good terms with their neighbours. Mrs Phan Thi Hieu - President of Nhon Trach Labour Union shared her secrets of keeping the harmony in her family as “respecting, trusting and sharing with each other, my husband and I have kept our small happiness up till now”.
Family is the cell of society and a good family will make a good nucleus for society to develop. “Prosperity, equality, progress and happiness” are goals of the building and development of Vietnamese families.
