In the morning of May 3, The Provincial Election Committee had a meeting to report on the organization of the 12th National Assembly Election from April 5 to May 2 2007.

According to the Provincial Election Committee, the whole population of the province is 2,378,244 people, among which there are 1,631,248 voters at 1,435 constituencies. The specific number of voters in each district is as follows: Long Thanh: 193,994 voters; Nhon Trach: 101,943 voters; Bien Hoa City: 416,551 voters; Vinh Cuu: 81,366 voters; Trang Bom: 148,532 voters; Thong Nhat: 103,689 voters; Dinh Quan: 137,888 voters; Tan Phu: 110,030 voters; Long Khanh Town: 93,833 voters; Xuan Loc: 143,535 voters and Cam My: 100,067 voters. In addition, according to the report, election teams are still in need of 296 members. Until now, the list and biographies of candidates have been post up in these constituencies.

At the meeting, the constituencies talked about their localities’ difficulties such as slow internet assess resulted in difficulties in updating information and applying informatics softwares. In addition, there is no power supply in 14 existing polls, 6 of which are in Cam My District, 4 in Tan Phu and 4 in Vinh Cuu. Representatives of the constituencies said they would overcome the situation of no power supply by moving the polls and renting electric generators. As for the IT application to the election, it is necessary to have collaboration between units of electricity, post and telecommunication, science and technology and post office. In estimation, during 3 days 8, 11 and 15 of May 2007, The Provincial Election Committee is going to test IT application online in order to serving the election day for the best.

Addressing at the conference, Mr Huynh Chi Thang – Chairman of The Provincial Election Committee - suggested the localities should speed up the popularization to all classes of people in the remaining days, continue checking voter lists so that immediate reports can be  made to solve any problems that arise and carefully checking the polls and the posting of candidate lists so as to be lawful and solemn. Particularly, it is necessary to coordinate The Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to organize a successful contact with voters and have plans to greatly protect for the election.
