Drug Control in January, 2009: Down 5 Cases compared with the Previous Month

According to the Steering Committee of AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Control in January 2009, functional organs captured and fined 13 cases with 28 subjects involved in illegal storage, buying and sale and use of drugs, 5 cases fewer than December 2008.

 

Performance for drug control propaganda

    There were 9 cases with 11 subjects involving in illegal storage, trading and sale and use of drugs, 4 cases with 14 subjects attached to illegal use of drugs. The captured exhibits include one bar of heroin, one  part , 29 tiny units and 401.43 grams; 48.8790 grams of dry hashish, 1.090 grams of fresh one, 21 synthetic drug tablets, 13 packets of methamphetamine; 6 autos; 12 cell phones and VND5,992,000 (US$340). 8 cases were submitted to be prosecuted with the involvement of 13 subjects; other 5 cases were administratively punished with 15 subjects.

    Besides, propaganda for drug control was drastically enhanced. In January, 382 propaganda programs attracting 40,000 participants were held; 4 classes of drug control supplementary training on AIDS, drug and prostitute control were opened; 31 articles and 55 pieces of news were featured in Mass Media; 85 banners, 75 meters of panel, 100 posters, 103 slogans involved in drug control were created and hang up. Via propaganda and mobilization, people provided 25 sources of information in which three ones were valuable for the functional organs to have 3 cases captured.
