Dong Nai vocational-training college: satisfies the needs for vocational training, contributing to supplementing technical human resources

Dong Nai is located in the key economic zone of Southern Vietnam. Therefore, training human resources especially technical one is an important duty of the province to develop in the direction of modern industry. Contributing to supplementing technical human resources, Dong Nai vocational-training college is one of the vocational training units across the province that always strive for enhancing the quality and quantity of teaching.

Lieutenant-general Nguyen Khac Nghien - Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of The General Staff paid a visit to the college in December, 2006.

 

The college was founded in November 1975, based on the  former vocational training center with the initial name called Tan Mai primary and secondary technical school. In the period 1986-1991, the college was invested in constructing, improving and upgrading workshops and classrooms by Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee in order to receive equipment aid from Russia. On July 3rd 2007, the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Ministry signed a decision to establish Dong Nai vocational college based on the foundation of Dong Nai Technical Worker School. From 2001 till now, the college has been recognized by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affair and the General Department of Vocational Training as one of fifteen key schools invested in upgrading so that it can train high-quality technical working resources, serving the society and factories as well as enterprises across the province. Recently, the college has been invested by Dong Nai province in building and completing infrastructure, workshops, and classrooms together with other projects. The college has been also invested by Rhone-Alpes Region of the French Republic in enhancing the capacity of training in: mechanics, electronics, and garment industry. Apart from investment by Dong Nai province and other projects, the college has, with its annual savings, invested in relatively perfect workshop facilities and infrastructure to be able to organize the vocational training for all 3 levels.

    During 32 years since its establishment and development, the college has been training 13,556 graduate students as long-term technical workers, 12,140 graduate students as short-term ones, and 15,998 high school students who received vocational guidance. After graduation, 90% of students get the job, of which 60% get the job immediately. Students of the college are present in most enterprises of the province and the surroundings. Many of students in the college are main labor force in enterprises. Among them are seniors that play important roles. The college’s development has been evaluated by achievements obtained for many years. Its students represented the whole province to attend the national vocational skill contest  and won the title “Good student”. Among them, there were 2 students won the consolation prize of the ASEAN region. The college’s teachers have also won the 1st prize and the 2nd prize in the national good vocational-training teachers’ teaching festival. At present, teaching staff and employees in the college include more than 135 people, among which there are 5 national-level good teachers, 21 provincial-level good teachers, and 14 teachers with master degree. Diversifying training form and associating training with enterprises have been paid special attention. Since the college was founded, it has been always collaborated with enterprises and supported by those through their receiving apprentice, granting scholarship to students who overcome difficulties to study well. These enterprises are Boramtek, Nanyang, Bien Hoa electronics and so on

    With achievements gained in the process of training, the college is annually awarded the emulation Flag for the advanced and excellent unit conferred by the provincial People’s Committee and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. The college was awarded the 3rd rank Labor Medal in 1993 and the 2nd rank Labor Medal in 2000 conferred by the state president.
