The first congress of Dong Nai Association for Victims of Orange Agent (2007-2012)

The congress, which was to establish the Dong Nai Association for Victims of Orange Agent, took place in the morning of March 29. The association is a social – charitable organization for victims affected by orange agent in Dong Nai province and for voluntary individuals and organizations, who contribute effort, intelligence and material things to make good the damage of consequences of toxic chemicals used by US Army in the Vietnam war, so that the victims would be helped to integrate with the society.

According to the statistics investigated by The Ministry of War Invalids and Social Welfare, in the whole province, there are currently 10,465 people affected by orange agent used by US Army in the Vietnam War. For recent years, with policies and guidelines of The Party and The State, Dong Nai has had various solutions to make good the damage of consequences caused by orange agent to assist the victims in easing their difficulties in life as well as partly relieving their spiritual and health pain. The results were, however, initial and very limited in comparison with victims affected by orange agent in the province.

Currently, The Association has 58 members. From now to 2012, the association is scheduled to have between 300 and 400 members. Districts, town and city are scheduled to have between 100 and 150 members.

The Association were agreed on voting for Mr. Vo Van Quang, former Director of Dong Nai Department of War Invalids and Social Welfare to work as the association Chairman.
