Governor of State Bank in Dong Nai reports three-year implementation of Decree No.20

According to report from People’s Committee, after three-year execution and until 31 Dec. 2010, out of 1,506 units, there were 823 units paying salary via banks, achieving by 54.6%. Bien Hoa ranks the top, gaining by 98.48% and the lowest rate is at Cam My, achieving by 11.4%. There are now 364 ATMs throughout all districts, towns and Bien Hoa city.

The salary payment via banks has received consents from many units because of its less time consumption, easy effort and high personal security. The habit in cash payment can be gradually changed, which will reduce a part of expenses for cash management in the national economy. ATM booths are now playing different roles in many value-added services such as payments for power bills, telephone bills and flight tickets..., apart from its traditional functions such as money withdrawal and transfer. Nowadays, most banks are linked together and facilitates service end users.

However, the execution also causes certain problems such as malfunctional or run-out-of-money ATMs at the rush hour of salary payment; improper location of ATMs in Dong Nai; ATMs mostly installed in Bien Hoa city and industrial parks, which leads to a shortage of ATMs in remote areas and causes difficulties in salary withdrawal and time consumption.

It is widely known that the public communication in 2011 will be enhanced so that local salary sums can be paid via banking accounts. Internet banking services are also promoted (all banking services will rely on internet) to meet consumer’s demands and reduce overload situation for current service channels; the development of POS will aim at places where lots of customers go shopping in order to reduce overloaded ATMs, concurrently choosing convenient and safe places for ATM installation.
