August: Consumer price index increased by 0.6 percent

The August’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.6 percent compared with July (CPI in urban area increased by 0.68 percent and CPI in rural area increased by 0.56%)

Among 10 groups of goods and service, CPI of the food & drink services group went up 0.8 percent. Three groups whose CPI increased more than the general average level include garments, hats & caps and footwear. Household appliances and utensils increased by 0.7 percent; medicine and medical services went up 0.7 percent; six remaining groups whose CPI are lower than the general average level include drinks and cigarettes (0.4%), tourism (0.3%), education (0.2%), other goods and services (0.3%), traffic – post and telecommunication (0.2%), housing, electricity, water, fuels and building materials (0.5%).

The CPI of August 2007 rose by 6.1% compared with December 2006 and 8.2% compared with August 2006.

Gold price index in August rose by 1.15% compared with July and 4.47% compared with the same period. USD price index of August increased by 0.12% compared with July and 0.75% compared with the same period.
