Workers are eager as the number of orders are rising

Coming to work with renewed vigor

Since the second quarter of 2023, Global Mechanical Engineering Co., Ltd (Trang Bom) has been receiving new orders, creating stable jobs for their employees. Despite difficulties, the company still made an effort of not cutting down labor and found production options to maintain jobs for workers. Thanks to that, from then on, the company still maintains a team of skilled and high-quality workers, meeting the job requirements and producing new orders. In addition, the company fully implements benefits and policies for employees to feel they are being looked after.

At the Electrical Equipment Joint Stock Company (Long Duc Industrial Park, Long Thanh district), orders have returned and workers are pulling overtime regularly to ensure the production plan on schedule. The working atmosphere of workers at the factories became more bustling and exciting. Many workers expressed that stable orders together with the care of Trade Union and enterprises have created a great motivation for them to work actively and creatively, contributing to improving product quality for their company.

Mai Thanh Loc, who works at the Paper Cutting Team, said: “For employees who have regular jobs, overtime, and increased income for a stable life, it is a joy and motivation to work harder. I hope that from now until the end of the year, new orders will continue to be abundant, creating stable incomes and improving workers' lives."

The representative of this enterprise said that since May 5-2022, the company relocated its base from Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park to Long Thanh district for production and business purposes. At the time, as orders were far and few between, and the company was restructuring their production, so the number of employees dropped to over 280 people. When orders decreased, workers hardly worked overtime and their income also decreased. But in the past few months, orders have returned a lot, so workers had stable jobs and work overtime on Saturdays and Sundays to keep up with orders.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Wacoal Co., Ltd (Bien Hoa City), production orders are also more stable than other garment manufacturers in the area, creating stable works for employees. Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc Lan, Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, said that up to now, the company still has stable orders to ensure jobs and income for employees. In addition, the company has fully implemented welfare policies, helping employees feel secure to work and trust and stay with the enterprise for a long time.

Making an effort to secure jobs for workers
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, from June 2022, the influence of the world situation has caused many businesses to reduce orders and their production scale, leading to reduced working hours, temporary suspension of labor contracts or terminating workers' contracts. The long-term effect worsened the difficulties, the employees were not allowed to work overtime at first, then their working hours were reduced, they took time off from work, and finally, their labor was reduced. Accordingly, the demand for job recruitment decreased sharply, employees had difficulty in finding new jobs, and the beneficiaries of unemployment benefits increased.

Worrying about the situation the workers were in, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs had advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue specific policies to support workers in a timely manner. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 122/QD-UBND dated January 19th, 2023 on taking care of and supporting employees who lost their jobs, temporarily suspending labor contracts and valid until May 30, 2023 with a monetary support of 1.5 million VND/person. Up to now, 9.5 thousand cases have been disbursed with the amount of nearly 15 billion VND. Thereby, helping many employees affected by their jobs to overcome difficulties, sympathize and stay with enterprises.

The Department also said that up to now, the situation at some enterprises in the province has shown positive signs due to the resurgence of orders. The recovered orders were concentrated in the textile, garment and leather footwear industries. Although the orders are not many and mainly businesses have enough goods for workers to have jobs, this is also a positive sign about the current employment situation. Some enterprises with orders have started recruiting workers again, creating opportunities for unemployed workers to return to the labor market soon.

Lately, despite certain difficulties, many businesses still have policies to fully care for their employees. So when orders came back, businesses don't have labor fluctuations like before. According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Phap, Chairman of the Trade Union of Pouchen Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa City), from the second quarter of 2023, the company has gotten new orders and workers have regular jobs in all 3 shifts. Currently, orders are available until the end of the year, so employees' jobs are guaranteed. Previously, when businesses reduced orders, employees who took leave on Saturday were still supported by the company with a salary of 170,000 VND/day and fully implemented benefits and policies so that workers could still have income and overcome difficulties with enterprises.

Standing side by side with union members, employees, trade unions at all levels in the province have implemented many support policies and organized activities to take care of employees. In which, supporting employees who lost their jobs and reduced their incomes; selling goods at regulated prices, giving gifts to struggling workers and supporting loans to improve their lives. In addition, they also accompanied enterprises to implement production plans to maintain jobs. As a result, although the employment of employees was small and the overtime was reduced, it was still ensured, the labor relations situation in the area was stable, creating more confidence of the employees in the Trade Union.
