Many concentrated and large-scale specialized farming zones
Mr. Cao Tien Sy, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in recent years, the structure of crops in the province has shifted rapidly towards sustainable efficiency, mainly perennial industrial crops such as: pepper, cashew, rubber to fruit trees such as pomelo, durian, banana, jackfruit…. Since then, it has contributed nearly to maintaining the growth rate of the cropping industry at 2-2.5% in recent years, as agricultural production area has been cut down to allow space for invested projects in the province.
In the province, many concentrated and large-scale specialized fruit growing zones have been formed such as bananas in Trang Bom and Thong Nhat districts; durian in Cam My, Tan Phu, Xuan Loc districts, Long Khanh city; mango in Dinh Quan, Xuan Loc; citrus trees in Vinh Cuu and Tan Phu districts;…

In order to promote crop production in particular and fruit trees in general, in the past time, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate effectively with sectors and localities to implement a number of solutions.

In terms of planning, 98 concentrated production zones with a scale of nearly 19,000 hectares have been reviewed and identified, eight high-tech production zones with a scale of more than 6,500 hectares in Cam My, Vinh Cuu, Dinh Quan, Xuan Loc, Thong Nhat, Nhon Trach districts and 10 areas in Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Vinh Cuu, Xuan Loc, Cam My districts with a scale of 21,411 ha are eligible for organic agriculture development.

At the same time, effectively deploying mechanisms, policies, programs and projects to promote the development of production methods and form horizontal - vertical links: the field of crop production has so far formed 144 linkage chains, with a scale of more than 13,000 hectares, including 88 chains of fruit trees, and 249 farms. Currently, the province has more than 1.6 thousand hectares of fruit trees received food safety certification; 2 models of durian and pomelo growing with a scale of 4.3 hectares in Cam My and Thong Nhat districts awarded organic certification. Some fruit products such as pomelo, durian, mango, rambutan of the cooperatives were awarded 3-star OCOP product certifications. In the province, many models of fruit tree production with high economic value have been established, which are 2-3 times more efficient than mass production, especially the durian model (5 models with an area of 706 ha) is profitable, earning from 700 million VND/VND to 1 billion VND/ha/year.

To promote product consumption connection, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and other sectors and localities to promptly inform businesses, cooperatives and people about the current events of domestic and foreign markets; supporting cooperatives and farms to participate in trade promotion fairs inside and outside the province. Especially in the first 6 months of the year, the Provincial People's Committee successfully organized 2 export ceremonies for banana and durian products to the Chinese market; and directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with Long Khanh City to organize a festival honoring the fruit products in Dong Nai province.

Regarding promoting agricultural export activities, the province currently has 141 growing zones and 82 packing facilities for agricultural products for export to China, the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In particular, the Chinese market alone has 104 growing areas, of which 12 are durian plantations, 18 are for mango, 22 are for rambutan, 30 are for banana, 13 are for jackfruit and 9 are for dragon fruit.

Strengthening support for brand promotion and market expansion
Previously, the production and consumption of agricultural products and fruits still faced many difficulties, for example they could not sell even though crops were abundant, high in supply but no demand, etc. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, this problem has a number of core issues such as: connections in production have been established but are still unsustainable; most of the associated contracts have a short performance period, mainly on a seasonal basis; cannot meet the  technical standards of agricultural products, especially food safety standards and design specifications, This is a bottleneck in expanding new markets as traditional markets facing difficulties. Calling for capable businesses to invest and join in the association of the crop sector is difficult due to many reasons...

Regarding solutions, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Tien Sy said that in the coming time, localities need to pay attention to a number of issues such as: arranging land bank and suitable space to invest in storage system, preliminary processing and packaging of agricultural products associated with concentrated production areas for local key products, especially production areas associated with high-value commodity industries with competitive advantages of provinces such as: banana, grapefruit, durian, mango...

Speeding up the construction of two agricultural product processing clusters in Long Giao and Cam My communes and the processing industry cluster in Phu Tuc commune, Dinh Quan district. This is an important task to realize the province's breakthrough in agriculture; associating the establishment of new agricultural cooperatives with the building of supply chain; linking product branding with the OCOP program; promote the invitation of enterprises to participate in the implementation of supply chain in the locality; strengthen support for product brand promotion and market expansion for products participating in the supply chain in the province.

Along with that, promoting the application of synchronous mechanization at all stages of production, preservation and processing of agricultural products, suitable to the conditions of each region, each type of crop and livestock; building production areas meeting standards of quality and scale to meet the needs of connecting to processing factories and export markets; effectively implementing mechanisms and policies to invest in agriculture to free up resources for development, such as: supporting enterprises to invest in agriculture; production links; safe production support; promotion...
