According to the Vice Chairman, currently Long Thanh International Airport is still not operable, but the traffic congestion situation is alarming, especially the section from Long Thanh Bridge (Long Thanh) to Mai Chi Tho Street (Ho Chi Minh City). Therefore, Dong Nai province proposed to the Prime Minister to direct the Ministry of Transport to accelerate the expansion expressway to 10 – 12 lanes to ensure traffic after the project is completed.

In addition, leader of the Provincial People's Committee also proposed the Prime Minister to direct the implementation of a bridge to replace Cat Lai ferry during this time period, instead of after 2030 as proposed by Ho Chi Minh City. The reason is that Long Thanh International Airport is expected to be completed in 2026 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway has begun to overload. The promptly implementation of this project will contribute to reducing traffic pressure connecting the regions.
