Securing additional human resources for the next investment wave

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Since the Long Thanh International Airport project was officially started, there has been a strong push for investors to come to Dong Nai looking for new investment opportunities.​​

Experts from Lac Hong University introduced the training capacity of the school to the delegation of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs of the US Department of State  

A new driving force in attracting investment to Dong Nai province is the fact that Vietnam is becoming an increasingly important destination when many trade and investment agreements are signed. Most notably, in 2023, Vietnam has officially upgraded its comprehensive strategic partnership with two major countries, the United States and Japan. Upgrading strategic relationships is expected to create new waves of technology investment, creating many high-quality jobs.

Currently, the United States only has 30 investment projects in Dong Nai, which is considered a small number compared to the true potential of a world economic power. However, in the coming time, the potential to attract US investment into Dong Nai can be improved as the province is aiming to attract investment in a selective direction, only accepting investment in high technology industries. Evidence for this is that in just a short time, many US businesses have set foot in Dong Nai for the first time to explore investment opportunities, for examples Coherent Incorporate, TWG Group...

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung, Dong Nai province has many opportunities and great potential for training facilities, especially the upcoming completion of the transportation sytrunk and Long Thanh international airport. Training institutions can only keep up and gain advantages when they are capable of predicting the needs and labor recruitment trends of businesses, especially in the technology, electronics, artificial intelligence (AI) industries...

Not only stopping at the investment sector, another positive sign is that human resource training has also received attention from the US Government. Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of Lac Hong University, said that at the end of September 2023, US Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Melissa Bishop and representatives of the US Agency for International Development USAID in Vietnam paid a visit and worked with the university. Furthermore, the end of November, a delegation from the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs under the US Department of State together with the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City and the US Agency for International Development USAID also visited and worked with the school.

During the second visit of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at Lac Hong University, the two sides exchanged many opportunities in cooperation in training high-quality human resources in engineering, electronics, and other fields. That includes workers producing electronic chips and semiconductors. Lac Hong University also received a request to continue training and providing human resources for On Semiconductor Vietnam Co., Ltd., an American electronics enterprise in Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park.

Not stopping there, many foreign-invested enterprises from Japan, Taiwan (China), and Korea are increasing cooperation in training high-quality human resources with potential training partners. For example, Mabuchi Motor Corporation (Japan) continues to sponsor scholarships for students, or recently SMC Corporation Vietnam Co., Ltd. (part of Japan's SMC Corporation) specializes in manufacturing world leading pneumatic equipment for automation industries sponsored Lac Hong University with a practical equipment sytrunk worth 2 billion VND...  ​
