Many corporations look for wood products in Vietnam

Since the beginning of the year, many foreign corporations have adopted online exchanges and Vietnamese businesses in other countries to find the source of wood products in Vietnam. Thereby, many domestic wood enterprises have signed sale and purchase contracts with customers in the United States, Europe, Korea, and Japan.


According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first quarter of 2021, Vietnam's wood industry continued to maintain a high growth rate and became one of the six industries with the largest export turnover in the country.

 * Looking forward to cooperating with businesses in Vietnam

From April 12-19, 2021, the Handicraft and Wood Processing Association of Ho Chi Minh City (Hawa) coordinated with the Trade Promotion Department, the Vietnam Wood and Forest Products Association, and the Vietnamese trade deals in other countries organized the International Trade Week for woodworking and handicrafts in Ho Chi Minh City. More than 400 representatives of international purchasing enterprises, manufacturers in the wood processing industry attended the event in the hope of removing bottlenecks in trade with other countries. On the technology platform, Hawa has supported businesses in the industry with models and ways to organize trade connections and respond to challenges caused by Covid-19. Besides, opening opportunities for wood enterprises to boost revenue in 2021, long-term connection with potential and key markets.

Many wood enterprises in Dong Nai also participated in the International Trade Week for woodworking and handicrafts to introduce wood products to foreign customers. At the same time, through that, we can find partners to cooperate in providing products.

Mr Nguyen Chanh Phuong, Permanent Vice President, Secretary General of Hawa said: “In Asia, Vietnam has become an ideal destination for international buyers. In 2021, the trend of global furniture consumption will increase, so promoting and connecting with the world market will give businesses more opportunities to expand exports and improve their position in the international market.

Also during the Week of International Trade in Woodworking and Handicraft Industry, many large corporations in the world such as: Kingfisher, Ikea, Ashley, Rowico, Target, Test Rite, Modus, Amazon... attended for looking for enterprises to supply wood products in Vietnam.

* Wood export turnover increased by over 33%

In Dong Nai, wood industry enterprises also promptly linked with enterprises in the industry in other provinces to expand production and export. In the first quarter of 2021, wood industry enterprises in the province exported 446 million USD, increased more than 33.4% compared to the same period last year. Dong Nai's largest wood product importer is the United States, accounting of nearly 72% of the industry's total export turnover. Enterprises in Dong Nai have relatively effectively used online trading to exchange and sign cooperation agreements with foreign customers, so they have received many large orders until the third and fourth quarter of 2021.

Ms Bui Thi Thanh An, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that: in the situation of the world economy's heavy decline, the domestic wood industry still developed stably and maintained its growth rate because enterprises have made efforts and creativity to meet the requirements of the world market. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Associations have provided timely support to help businesses connect to online trade, not to be interrupted with the global supply chain.
