Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien spoke at the meeting.

At the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Vo Van Chanh highlighted difficulties in combating African swine fever, and propose the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to consider and approve the support for damage caused by African Swine fever by the number of animals before the time of Decision No. 793 / QD-TTg and approve the appointment of Laboratory Diagnostics Station of Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to organize samples of African swine fever to proactively prevent epidemic in the province; Review and supplement regulations on quarantine of animals and animal products circulating within the province; direct the Breeding Center under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to increase production to supply breeds for breeding establishments.

According to a provincial report, in 2019, African swine fever epidemic occurred in 5,371 farms, culling about 450 thousand heads with a weight of nearly 24,000 tons, so far the province has supported households with pigs destroyed with a budget of 668 billion VND (reaching 99.3%) and the province has spent on prevention and control of about 132 billion VND. By the end of March, Dong Nai had announced the end of the province-wide epidemic. Up to now, 328 establishments have re-established their herd, increasing the herd to more than 219 thousand heads; the active reorganization and husbandry development have increased the province's pig herd to over 2 million heads (an increase of about 14% compared to January 2020).

Also according to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, some difficulties exist such as African swine cholera without vaccine, complicated transmission line, pathogens have high resistance, so there is still a risk of recurrence if the biosecurity-raising process is not strictly followed; the rate of breeding facilities to ensure biosecurity is still low, so the risk of epidemic outbreaks when re-breeding is high. In addition, the 2016 Veterinary Law does not regulate quarantine of animals, animal products and intra-provincial transportation, thus also makes it difficult to control the disease.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien highly appreciated the prevention of African swine fever in the province as well as efforts to re-breed, increase the herd of pigs after the effects of African swine fever. Ministry leaders also noted the recommendations of Dong Nai. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development also requires its specialized agencies to coordinate with the province to guide related procedures.
