(CTT-Dong Nai) - According to a report from the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 6 months of 2023, the total banana production in the province reached more than 90.4 thousand tons, an increase of more than 16.6% compared to the same period last year.

In the 2022-2023 harvest year, the price of exported fresh bananas was always stable at 12-15 thousand VND/kg, the highest price since the Covid-19 pandemic. At this price, farmers growing old bananas transplanting tissues for export were making a profit of 200 to 300 million VND/ha.
Dong Nai is the capital of banana cultivation with the largest area in the country with over 13.1 thousand hectares. At the same time, the province also leads the country in the number of banana growing area codes with 30 growing areas, covering an area of 5,669 hectares, accounting for 43% of the banana growing area in the province. The province has 39 export banana packing factories that have been granted codes. The province is expanding the planting area, forming linkages from production to consumption so that this key crop has a more stable output.
