On December 4th, at the provincial Conference and Event Center, a ceremony was held to announce that Dong Nai Province has completed the task of building a new rural area and 10-year review of the implementation of the national target program to build new rural areas for the period 2010-2020.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien - Director, Chief of Central NTM Coordinating Office; Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Ho Thanh Son - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Cao Tien Dung - Chairman of the provincial People's Committee together with more than 500 representatives of Dong Nai province and representatives of leaders of neighboring provinces and cities.
Dong Nai has more than 470.000 hectares of agricultural land, accounting for nearly 80% of the province's natural area; 2/3 of the population lives in rural areas, so the past time the province has always placed agriculture, farmers and rural areas in an important strategic position in sustainable development. Up to now, the province has completed 100% of communes meeting new rural area standards, of which 31 communes have achieved new rural area standards, 100% of district-level units have been recognized as meeting standards by the Prime Minister, completing the task of building new rural areas 2 years before the original target set by the province. The total mobilized capital for the Program of the period 2011-2019 is more than 377 trillion dong, of which the state budget is 42 trillion dongs, accounting for 11.12% and the people contribute 47 trillion dongs, making up 12.39%. The growth rate of production value of the whole industry increased on average 3.67% (period 2011-2018); The value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products/ ha in 2018 reached 228.8 million VND, 2.33 times higher than in 2010. Average income per capita in rural areas in 2018 reached 51.61 million VND/ people/ year, 2.8 times higher than the beginning of 2011. In the first year of Program implementation, the rate of poor households according to the central standard decreased sharply from 6.22% in 2011 to only 0.09% currently.
In addition to the results and achievements achieved in the past 10 years, there are some limitations, namely: rural areas have made some renovation steps but the landscape in some places has not been bright, green, clean and beautiful; infrastructure is focused in investing but does not really meet well with development needs; rural industry develops slowly, especially agricultural preservation and processing industry; consumer markets and product competitiveness are not really stable, the development of brand name to solve the output of goods and agricultural products of the province is limited; some localities meet the standards but the criteria for quality and sustainability are not high.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien warmly praised and congratulated the achievements of Dong Nai province in the construction of new rural areas, hoping that the province will continue promoting its solidarity, initiative and creativity of the Party Committee; hoping that authorities and people of Dong Nai province in the coming time will achieve more great results in building new rural areas, contributing positively to develop agriculture, peasants and rural areas sustainably, always deserving to be the leading national flag and continue to strive to develop comprehensively in all aspects.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung awarded the certificates of merits of the Provincial People's Committee to the collectives with outstanding achievements. Next, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung launched the emulation movement "The whole province will build new rural areas in the period of 2020-2025" and called on all levels, sectors and people of the whole province to join in unanimous determination for emulating new rural areas for the purpose of building a prosperous, democratic, fair and civilized Dong Nai province.
At the ceremony, Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to 09 collectives with particularly outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "The whole country worked together to build new rural areas in the period of 2016-2020. In addition, the provincial leaders also awarded certificates of merit of the Prime Minister to 03 collectives and 02 individuals and certificates of merits of the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee to 123 collectives and 255 individuals.
