The Government has just issued Resolution No. 07/NQ-CP on the feasibility study report of Long Thanh International Airport Project (Phase I). The Government decided the State Evaluation Council to urgently complete the evaluation of the feasibility study report of Long Thanh International Airport Project - Phase I for quality assurance and submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on project investment in March 2020.

In particular, for adjusting the area of national defense, adding 2 connecting roads, total investment, capital raising plan, applied technology, socio-economic and financial efficiency, management, operation, exploitation and training of human resources, etc., the Government has requested research and implementation according to the content of Resolution No. 95/2019/QH14 of the National Assembly.
It is necessary to adjust the land area in phase 1 from 1,165 hectares to about 1,810 hectares to suit the needs of synchronous exploitation activities in Phase 1.
Regarding the form of investment, it must be based on the classification of work items to be invested, thorough study of legal provisions for the completion of the proposal of investment forms to ensure national defense, security and interests of the State, national interests; the guarantee of the State's management in accordance with the law on civil aviation and use for military purposes. In particular, there are specific solutions and policies according to its competence to implement the project smoothly and ensure progress as required by the National Assembly.
The Government requested the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province to focus on directing the implementation of land acquisition, compensation, support and resettlement to hand over the site in time for the project construction schedule, ensure the completion and operation of the project in accordance with the requirements of the National Assembly's Resolution No. 94/2015/QH13.
The Ministry of Transport and Transport will study and invest in building a transport system connecting Long Thanh International Airport area with the Southern key economic region in sync with each investment period under the orientation to become a regional and international transshipment airport. In the immediate future, it is necessary to accelerate the progress of ongoing projects; balance and mobilize resources in the 2021-2025 period to invest and meet the exploitation needs of Phase 1.
