Amata Industrial Zone was selected as a typical Eco-Industrial Zone
Representatives of businesses participated in the conference.
On March 31, the Management Board of Vietnam Ecological Industrial Parks (IZs) (Ministry of Planning and Investment) coordinated with the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority to organize a workshop to improve the efficiency of clean production of natural resources and investigation of the ecological industrial zone index in Amata Industrial Zone (Bien Hoa City). There were representatives of a number of experts, leaders of some departments and 20 businesses in Amata Industrial Zone attending the meeting. This is a program under the Project "Implementation of Vietnam's eco-industrial zone in the direction of approaching the global eco-industrial zone program". There are 3 Industrial Zones in the country that have been selected to be pilot areas for these above projects: Amata, Deep C (Hai Phong), Hiep Phuoc (HCMC).
The workshop aims to help businesses build a roadmap to reduce production costs, protect the environment and increase profits through assessment, supporting businesses to identify and implement solutions to save materials, energy, water, chemicals with industrial symbiosis opportunities among companies in Amata Industrial Zone.
According to Mr. Le Van Danh, Deputy Head of the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority, the development of an ecological industrial zone model closely linked between economic benefits and environmental protection is a new direction in the development of industrial zones in Vietnam. Dong Nai is a locality with many industrial zones, located in the Southern Focal Economic Zone, so it pays a great attention to sustainable industrial development. The province hopes Amata Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company cooperates with businesses to quickly complete the criteria to soon turn Amata Industrial Zone into the first ecological industrial zone in Vietnam.
