Implementation result of investment projects on basic construction of traffic works 2008 in the province has been below expectations.

On September 16 morning, Vice-Chairperson of the provincial People’s Council Huynh Chi Thang had a meeting with Department of Traffic and Transport along with related branches, some districts on deployment progress of investment projects on basic construction of traffic works 2008 in the province. Earlier, the provincial People’s Council assigned a delegation to pay working visits to 3 districts, namely Vinh Cuu, Nhon Trach and Trang Bom.

As reported from Department of Traffic and Transport, implementation result of investment projects on basic construction of traffic works 2008 in the province has been below expectations. In the first eight months 2008, expenditure on construction investment in traffic works of the province were about US$1.7 billion, fulfilling 18.43% of the set target. The dispersed capital of the province was US$758,000, fulfilling 8.88% of the year’s plan with 14.59% newly concentrated budget capital dispersed. Districts’ budget capital dispersed includes Vinh Cuu with 17% of the plan, Trang Bom with 33% of the plan, Nhon Trach with 4% of the plan. From now till the end of this year, in order to implement well abundant work left, it is essential for localities, departments, branches across the province to have close cooperation.

Concluding at the meeting, Huynh Chi Thang-Vice-Chairperson of the provincial People’s Council expressed that departments, branches together with districts should find out stronger and more drastic solutions to ensure progress as scheduled. He also suggested that departments, branches, localities enhance their close relationship, concentrate on finishing major works, projects to avoid prolonged and ineffective investment.
