The Central Department of Propaganda and Training checks Dongnai’s implementation situation of the Direction 54_CT/TW.

Huynh Van Toi, Head of Department of Propaganda and Training of the provincial Party Committee reported results of the direction implementation.

As reported from the province, number of people infected by HIV/AIDS till August, 2008 across the province were 7,233, making up 0.31 of the population, including 1000 cases in the final stage and 571 fatalities. 11 out of 11 districts, towns, and cities have HIV infection cases, with highest number in Bien Hoa city, Long Khanh district, Long Thanh district, and Trang Bom. After three-year implementation of the Direction 54-CT/TW, task of HIV/AIDS prevention and control has been promoted and got a lot of positive results. 

Specifically, 300 to 400 people were sent to be detoxified and rehabilitated to 05-06 Center yearly, Xuan Phu (Xuan Loc district); 13 clinics for free HIV/AIDS consultancy were built; about 20 AIDS patients are cared and medically treated in Dongnai Dermatology Hospital frequently; 24 patients are being treated in HIV/AIDS prevention and control center; 48 patients are given ARV freely, etc. Via those activities, number of infection cases have declined yearly, but sill slowly.   

Professor DSc Pham Minh Hung acknowledged Dongnai’ s achievements and noted that Dongnai should speed up more socialization in HIV/AIDS prevention and control movements, set up interdisciplinary regulations in operation, bring into full play role of consultancy for provincial leaders about HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
